This is a member of one of my local hunting forums. He had a 400 day deployment was home for 2 months and just got sent out for another 400 days. These guys are dieing over there every day. They are making a HUGE sacrafice so we can do the things we do every day. Please don't forget to pray for them every day!!!! They need us. Do I agree with the war? NO!! But that is beside the point, these men and women are doing there jobs.

It just irks me to think that the Govt is granting me a privilege that is not theres to grant. The acceptance of this attitude by Govt ant the people is why Govt will continue to erode our personal freedoms.

I am giving them the privilege of taking care of these resources. Don't try to switch it around and tell me that you are the one in charge and you will grant me the right to hunt
& fish. I will tell you what is a right and what is a privilege, not the other way around. For I am you-I created you-I fund you.............you work for me.

So I have spent honestly thousands of dollars in my life on scouting my hunting areas, and finding new areas. I have put more miles on my legs, and taken more hours of my life than money I have spent. I know how to find animals. I love to help people out but I am so tired of being the only one who does any work, whenever I go hunting with anyone first question they ask is, "so, where are we going". Because they know that I have done my home work.

I can honestly say that my buddys have not shown me a single spot. Like I said helping people out is cool but I have been the go to guy for years, and all the guys I hunt with have more money than me and as much time, so why aren't they kickin down?

After talking with a guy the other night, tha I used to hunt with I decided that I am not going to play guide any more. I stopped and listened to what he had to say and it really hurt me, I think that my only worth to him is my knowledge of our area. From now on I am only going to show my spots to my brothers, Matt, Shi, and levi and my dad.

It is an unspoken rule of hunting that you dont go into your hunting partners spots without him, it is just not right. A good friend of mine took me to his bear spot last year and I had the time of my life. We sat in one spot for two hours and watched six different bears feed. We didn't kill anything that day but wew didn't have to, it was a really great day. Although I would love to go back in there I have not been back once, I have a lot more respect for my friend than that.

I got a call from a friend this last spring, "hey I just shot a big tom"! I was exited for him, untill I asked where he got it, "oh up in that spot you showed me last weekend". Whats even worse is when you show some one your secret spot only to find out that they took a friend of theirs hunting there. I am just tired of getting burned, I will still hunt with these guys but i'm not mr guide any more.

Saturday was opening day of bear season, and as usual i have spent months scouting. I took my best friend and life long hunting partner Tom with me, i took my bow only because i am stubborn and Tom brought his rifle.

we got to my spot about an hour before light and walked a little over a mile in. About 20 minutes after first light i spotted a big bear in the unit I was glassing. After we stalked as close as the terrain would alow I set up behind a stump and waited, bow in hand as the bear fed up the draw towards us.

I needed him to come in to 50 yards for an ethical shot with my bow but when he was at 98 yards i felt the wind against the back of my neck and knew we were in trouble. At that moment the bear stopped eating, put his nose in the air and started sniffing, i knew we were busted and told Tom to take him!

You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door. Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way. With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.. You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it. In the darkness, you make out two shadows. One holds something that looks like a crowbar. When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire. The blast knocks both thugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside. As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble. In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few That are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless. Yours was never registered. Police arrive and inform you that the second burglar has died. They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal Possession of a Firearm. When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry: authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter. "What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask. "Only ten-to-twelve years," he replies, as if that's nothing. "Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven." The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper.. Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys. Their friends and relatives can't find an unkind word to say about them. Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numerous times. But the next day's headline says it all: "Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die." The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters. As the days wear on, the story takes wings. The national media picks it up, then the international media. The surviving burglar has become a folk hero. Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he'll probably win. The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you've been critical of local police for their lack of effort in apprehending the suspects. After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time. The District Attorney uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the burglars. A few months later, you go to trial. The charges haven't been reduced, as your lawyer had so confidently predicted. When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against you. Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man. It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges. The judge sentences you to life in prison. This case really happened. On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one burglar and wounded a second. In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term. How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once great British Empire ? It started with the Pistols Act of 1903. This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license. The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all firearms except shotguns. Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns. Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the Hungerford mass shooting in 1987.. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed Man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he saw. When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead. The British public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of "gun control", demanded even tougher restrictions. (The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective even though Ryan used a rifle.) Nine years later, at Dunblane , Scotland , Thomas Hamilton used a semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public school. For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally unstable or worse, criminals. Now the press had a real kook with which to beat up law-abiding gun owners. Day after day, week after week, the media gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all handguns. The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, Sealed the fate of the few sidearm still owned by private citizens. During the years in which the British government incrementally took away most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism. Authorities refused to grant gun licenses to people who were threatened, claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun. Citizens who shot burglars or robbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released. Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying, "We cannot have people take the law into their own hands." All of Martin's neighbors had been robbed numerous times, and several elderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs who had no fear of the consequences. Martin himself, a collector of antiques, had seen most of his collection trashed or stolen by burglars. When the Dunblane Inquiry ended, citizens who owned handguns were given three months to turn them over to local authorities. Being good British subjects, most people obeyed the law. The few who didn't were visited by police and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn't comply. Police later bragged that they'd taken nearly 200,000 handguns from private citizens. How did the authorities know who had handguns? The guns had been registered and licensed. Kinda like cars. Sound familiar? 1994's Most Bizarre SuicideDon Harper MillsAt the 1994 annual awards dinner given by the American Association for Forensic Sciences, AAFS President Don Harper Mills astounded his audience in San Diego with the legal complications of a bizarre death. Here is the story...On March 23 the medical examiner viewed the body of Ronald Opus and concluded that he died from a gunshot wound of the head caused by a shotgun. Investigation to that point had revealed that the decedent had jumped from the top of a ten story building with the intent to commit suicide. (He left a note indicating his despondency.) As he passed the 9th floor on the way down, his life was interrupted by a shotgun blast through a window, killing him instantly. Neither the shooter nor the decedent was aware that a safety net had been erected at the 8th floor level to protect some window washers, and that the decedent would not have been able to complete his intent to commit suicide because of this...Ordinarily a person who starts into motion the events with a suicide intent ultimately commits suicide even though the mechanism might be not what he intended. That he was shot on the way to certain death nine stories below probably would not change his mode of death from suicide to homicide, but the fact that his suicide intent would not have been achieved under any circumstance caused the medical examiner to feel that he had homicide on his hands...Further investigation led to the discovery that the room on the 9th floor from whence the shotgun blast emanated was occupied by an elderly man and his wife. He was threatening her with the shotgun because of an interspousal spat and became so upset that he could not hold the shotgun straight. Therefore, when he pulled the trigger, he completely missed his wife, and the pellets went through the window, striking the decedent.When one intends to kill subject A, but kills subject B in the attempt, one is guilty of the murder of subject B. The old man was confronted with this conclusion, but both he and his wife were adamant in stating that neither knew that the shotgun was loaded. It was the longtime habit of the old man to threaten his wife with an unloaded shotgun. He had no intent to murder her; therefore, the killing of the decedent appeared then to be accident. That is, the gun had been accidentally loaded...But further investigation turned up a witness that their son was seen loading the shotgun approximately six weeks prior to the fatal accident. That investigation showed that the mother (the old lady) had cut off her son's financial support, and her son, knowing the propensity of his father to use the shotgun threateningly, loaded the gun with the expectation that the father would shoot his mother. The case now becomes one of murder on the part of the son for the death of Ronald Opus...Further investigation revealed that the son became increasingly despondent over the failure of his attempt to get his mother murdered. This led him to jump off the ten story building on March 23, only to be killed by a shotgun blast through a 9th story window.The medical examiner closed the case as a suicide.

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration is considering making veterans use private insurance to pay for treatment of combat and service-related injuries.
The plan would be an about-face on what veterans believe is a longstanding pledge to pay for health care costs that result from their military service.
But in a White House meeting Monday, veterans groups apparently failed to persuade President Barack Obama to take the plan off the table.
“Veterans of all generations agree that this proposal is bad for the country and bad for veterans,” said Paul Rieckhoff, executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. “If the president and the OMB (Office of Management and Budget) want to cut costs, they can start at AIG, not the VA.”
Under current policy, veterans are responsible for health care costs that are unrelated to their military service. Exceptions in some cases can be made for veterans without private insurance or who are 100 percent disabled.
The president spoke Monday at the Department of Veterans Affairs to commemorate its 20th anniversary and said he hopes to increase funding by $25 billion over the next five years. But he said nothing about the plan to bill private insurers for service-related medical care.
Few details about the plan have been available and a VA spokesman did not provide additional information. But the reaction on Capitol Hill to the idea has been swift and harsh.
“Dead on arrival” is how Democratic Sen. Patty Murray of Washington described the idea.
“When our troops are injured while serving our country, we should take care of those injuries completely,” Murray, a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, told a hearing last week.
“I don’t think we should nickel and dime them for their care,” she added.
In separate comments, Republican Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri said the nation “owes a debt to the veterans who fought and paid for our freedom.”
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki said at the hearing where Murray spoke that the plan was “a consideration.” He also acknowledged that the VA’s proposed budget for next year included it as a way to increase revenue.
But Shinseki told the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee that “a final decision hasn’t been made yet.”

Just some oregon boys im promoting, hawkeyebilt is there company name, they make cool game carts that you tow behind a mountian bike. They also make a blacktail deer and rosi elk hunting video every year. They are christian guys kent the dad is retired and mike his son is a timber faller. i may get to hunt deer with them this next year for there 2009 dvd.

Oregon big game managment

I am tired of oregon using hunters as a pay check. The game management is a joke and onlygetting worse, why are there an unlimited number of buck tags on the west side? money. i am a huge hunter, those who know me know all about it. Oregon needs to make the west sidea draw hunt or at least a 3 point min for a few years. Also we need more doe hunts and hereis why, a healthy dear population has a 50 or 75-100 buck to doe ratio, oregon is on average8-100 on the west side and that is horrible! the over all deer population is decliningand this is the reason. We need a healthy buck to doe ratio it is critical for fawnsurvivle. There are many many preditors for deer fawns, cougers bears and bob cats to name a couple. If a doe is not bred in her first cycle she will come back into heat 28 dayslater and so on untill the job gets done, if the ratio is low this will go on for a couple months 2 or 3. blacktail deer have a 200 day gestation period, so if the breading is spread out over 3 months making it almost impossible for fawns to survive dew to predidation. if the buck to doe ratio is healthy all of the breading will get done in about 3 weeks so all of the fawns will be born in about 3 weeks and preditors can only eat so much at a time, if it is spread out over 2-3 months you can see how most of the fawns will become a meal. Yes more doe hunts will lower deer numbers at first but in the end will creat a much betterand healthyer deer heard and better hunting and at least for a couple years they needto stop selling unlimited buck tags or at least making it a 3 point or better hunt.
it would be hard but i would give up deer hunting if i had to for a couple years to seethis happen.

I know about a dozen assholes who drive drunk, high, and recless everyday.
A really good guy that lives right and follows the rules makes one bad choice, why did he have to pay? If i sit here and try to figure it out i will lose my mind and my faith, i can only trust god and know that he has a plan, and pray for the family. Thank you guys for all of the love and life you brought to this world, i cant wait to see you again. Josh thank you for my family, you were the first baby that my wife fell in love with, you made her want to be a momma.
